Hunting and the outdoors have been part of my life from my earliest memories of childhood. I have been using a knife for as long as I could control a blade.

In the field, it is of critical importance that one can rely on the tools we take with us. A knife cannot be a liability, and it must always perform to the highest level possible. I strive to balance cutting ability with strength and durability.

Towards this end goal, I always select my steel with these things in mind. I grind my knives to a thin, keen edge that will cut before ever being sharpened. In order to achieve this, without fear of failure, it is important that the heat treatment of the knife be in all ways tailored to the task. I use steels designed, most frequently, to be used as razor blades.

I harden the steel myself, and temper it to support a very thin edge without rolling or chipping. I like a hunting knife to cut like a scalpel, and require next to no sharpening maintenance outside the occasional touch up on a strop, or stone.
